Holland Conservation Commission

Minutes of Commission meeting held on May 9, 2006.

Present: Mary vandenBerg, Chairperson, Steven Anderstrom, Patricia Caron, Howard Fife, Ann Hall, Rolf Hilbig and James Wettlaufer.

7:00 p.m. Chairperson called the meeting to order.

7:05 p.m. Minutes of Commission Meeting held on May 2, 2006 were read, accepted and will be distributed.
Received a reimbursement check for $34.55 from MACC for the publication that had been on back order “Managing Lakes and Reservoirs”.
Pat Caron called Brad Noble requesting Helen Kreiger’s daughter, phone number. She was called - a message was left requesting that any Conservation minutes or records she might find be given to the conservation committee. No response as of this date. Mary vandenBerg spoke with Brad Noble who will pursue this with Helen Kreiger’s son.

7:10 p.m. Pat Caron made a motion to take $300.00 from our expense account to help pay toward the Virtual Town Hall’s setup fee for our proposed web site. Mary vandenBerg proposed paying $250.00. That motion was made and approved by all.
Members signed Vendor Voucher paying the Republican for Michael Martino’s legal add of $36.00, Gordon Wiehler’s legal ad of $36.00 and $8.80 for stamps.
Not having received a fax or phone call from Peter Schartner regarding his Public Hearing, Pat Caron wrote him a letter informing him of the date and requesting him to respond by May 11, 2006 the latest. He responded by letter and phone – Legal Ad will be posted and his Public Hearing is set for May 23, 2006 at 7:30 p.m.

8:00 p.m. Mr. Joel Jette, builder sought our opinion regarding an addition of a bedroom and den for Peter Uldrich of 4 Lake Shore Dr. He was informed he would require a Notice of Intent since the house is in the 100-year flood zone. We then viewed pictures taken of last year’s October flood.

8:20 p.m. Members signed Mark Mackenzie’s Determination of Applicability and Michael Martino’s Order of Conditions. Signatures notarized by Kristin LaPlante.

8:30 p.m. Ann Hall was sworn in by Kristin LaPlante, Town Clerk, as a new member of the Conservation Commission until June 30, 2006. She will be re-appointed in July for a full 3-year term.

Steven Anderstrom reports:
Mark Gallant appears to be building a pool on Sturbridge Rd. and is trucking dirt across the road and questions whether he has reached the 300’ threshold. We do not recall seeing a Procedure Sheet. Suggestion was made that Jack Keogh be contacted to attend our meeting.
A shed has been built on the property adjacent to May Brook. Motion made by Mary vandenBerg that a Certified letter be sent to Christopher Wszolek of 95 May Brook Rd., Map R-39-F-15.2 informing him that he is in violation of the Rivers Act and request that he meet with us at his earliest convenience. Motion approved and accepted by all.
Trees and soil are being removed within the Watershed at Mr. Cookson and David M. Joy, II’s property at 2 Stony Hill Rd., Map R-35-F-16 and 8. Motion made by Mary vandenBerg that a Certified letter be sent informing them that we have serious concerns with the way the work is being done and request that they meet with us at their earliest convenience. Motion approved and accepted by all.

Motion to adjourn made by Rolf Hilbig, seconded and approved by all. Meeting adjourned at 9:05 p.m.
